Richard Franklin Martin

Richard Franklin Martin, 87 of Gordonsville, died Sunday July 16, 2023 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Born March 15, 1936 in Orange County, he was a son of the late William Martin and Mary Bickers Martin. Frank served in the U.S. Airforce for eight years and he was retired from Liberty Fabrics in Gordonsville where he worked for over thirty years. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church for over twenty years and served as a deacon as well as serving in many other positions. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose for fifty-five years and earned Pilgrim rank in 2002, and he worked the registration table at the state convention for thirty-five years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 156 of Orange.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Nancy Shifflett Martin, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, George Martin, Randolph Martin, Billy Martin, Gene Martin and one sister, Doris Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday July 21, 2023 at Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Daryl Harbin officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville.
