Robert O'Neil Snoddy, Sr.

April 27, 1932 - August 26, 2023

Robert O'Neil (Bob) Snoddy died Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge.

Bob was a “from here,” being born at Martha Jefferson Hospital on April 27,1932. He was the son of the late M. Hermon and Nelda H. Snoddy, and was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Hermon Snoddy, Jr. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary Elizabeth Armstrong Snoddy.

He is survived by his son, Dr. Neil Snoddy and his wife Sheri of Columbus, Georgia, his daughter Betsy Evans and her husband Lloyd, of Earlysville, Virginia, his son Alan and his wife Parul of New York City, and by grandchildren Charlie, Jake, Zach, Siena, Katherine, Sam and Annabeth.

Bob attended McGuffey School and Lane High School, graduating in 1950. Bob was very active with Lane High Reunions, a group dedicated to keeping alumni of Lane High informed about their classmates, and hosting an annual reunion in September of each year. Immediately upon graduating from Lane, he joined the United States Air Force, spending most his time in England. He returned to attend UVA and MCV School of Pharmacy. From 1961 to 1998 he worked for Standard Drug Company/ CVS Pharmacy downtown. After retiring, he continued working at all area CVS pharmacies until retiring at age 79 in 2009.

Bob played in the Charlottesville Municipal Band, and served as president during the 1960s. He was also a coach for his sons’ teams and later served as president of the Piedmont Little League, and, later, the Central Little League.

He will be interred, along with Mary Elizabeth, in the Memorial Garden of First

Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville following a Memorial Service, at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023.
