Steven Bryant Jones

Steven Bryant Jones, age 64, passed away on November 5, 2023 at Hospice of the Piedmont.

He was born September 13, 1959, in Charlottesville, VA. Son of Janet Ritz and Robert Edward Jones. He is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Edward Jones, and his father.

Steve graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1978. He participated in football, lacrosse, and cross country. He completed training at UVA to become a radiology technician, and continued on to have a successful career with over 30 years of service at the University of Virginia.

Steve was an avid collector of Civil War memorabilia and American Indian artifacts. He was in charge of maintaining the Link Evens Cemetery, which he was very proud of. He enjoyed using a metal detector to hunt for civil war relics, adding to his extensive collection throughout his lifetime. He had a soft spot for cats and provided a home to many of them over the years. He loved his dog, Princess, who has been his faithful companion for over 15 years.

A special thank you to Dr. Riley, who Steve affectionately called "his quarterback." the excellent staff at the Hospice of the Piedmont, and his dear friends Doug Sheffer, JB Harlow, and Don Mathes.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Monticello Memory

Gardens in Charlottesville, Va. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
