Vincent Lamere Thompson
Vincent LaMere Thompson, age 66, of Gordonsville, Virginia, departed his life on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, at his home.
Vincent was born August 4, 1957, in Charlottesville, Virginia. He leaves behind his lifelong partner of twenty-five years, Erika Robbins, as well as his beloved parents, Harry and Barbara Thompson of Roanoke, Virginia. Vincent precedes in death his two cherished daughters, Keshia Mallory and Taelor Lewis, both of Charlottesville, along with six grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Dwight Thompson and sister-in-law, Connie, one niece and nephew; and numerous cousins. Moreover, Vincent is survived by additional family, a stepdaughter, Ashley Claggett, along with her husband Chris, and two granddaughters, Stella and Elizabeth Claggett.
Vince served six years in the United States Army, where he was an Armor Crewman. Stationed originally in Louisiana, he traveled with the 5th Infantry Division into several foreign countries overseas and upon discharge received three U.S. Army decorations: Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the title of .45 Caliber Pistol Marksman. Early in his civilian career, Vincent delivered with a wine distribution company for several years, though his passion lied in the restaurant industry. After beginning his career at the Waffle House in Charlottesville, he later led the kitchen at IHOP in Charlottesville and Zions Crossroads for over 20 years, where he enjoyed displaying his spicy cooking abilities. Finally, Vince will be remembered as an advocate and fan of the Washington Commanders, sharing his passion for the game with friends and family throughout his entire life. HTTR.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, VA.
